Co-founded in 2008 with Stuart Russell. Built the engine behind TV and streaming apps for WarnerMedia, AT&T, Fox, the NFL and more. Sold to HBO/AT&T (WarnerMedia) in December 2020.
At the dawn of the iPhone era the idea was simple and slightly mad: bring video-game thinking to TV apps, and own the glass. You.i Engine let media companies ship one beautiful app to every screen — phones, Roku, consoles, set-top boxes — from a single codebase.
By the end the company was 200-plus people in Kanata, shipping tier-one apps for WarnerMedia, AT&T, Fox, Corus, Rogers and others. WarnerMedia — HBO's parent, then owned by AT&T — went from customer to investor (2016) to owner (December 2020). I left in January 2021. It's my third child, and I don't regret a thing.
